Many of our customers will deep-fry their Thanksgiving Turkey this year. It is a great way to make a tasty bird. It can also be disastrous if you do it wrong. Sam Sifton, a former New York Times restaurant critic, provides video tips on how to deep-fry a turkey.
Some of his deep-fry turkey tips include:
Setup on a flat, level, piece of land outdoors that you don’t mind gets burnt if things go wrong.
Ensure you are a good distance from your home, garage, shed, or any other structure.
Make sure you use a long-pronged thermometer. It is very important you know the temperature of the oil!
Wear shoes and any other protective clothing.
Watch the video below and pay attention to how he measures how much oil is needed. Too much oil can easily create an out of control fire.
Jack and Corey were in the Killer Zone showing off their kids. Jack used to be our Budweiser deliver driver and now his son, Corey, is our driver. Fitting that our 3rd generation butchers are getting Budweiser delivered from a second generation driver!
Joe and John are accepting Thanksgiving orders for Turkeys, Tur-Duc-Hens, Prime Rib, Ham and more. Give them a call at 515-243-7607 if have questions or to make your order! See all our main course ideas for your holiday feast!
They say you lose your memory as you grow older. We say “forget about the past” and live life to the fullest today. Just start with a Killer Sandwich! Happy Birthday.
We’re keeping Iowans, Andy and Mick,
on Top of the Food Chain!
Joe Dewey is the railroad worker who named our sandwiches. One day Joe walked in and exclaimed, “Give me one of those KILLER SANDWICHES!” He has been a fan since the beginning!
We enjoyed seeing Big John back in the Killer Zone this past weekend. Of course, he couldn’t wait to get back to his retired life in Las Vegas! By the way, he’s with Danny Bainter, former employee and longtime neighbor/friend of the Brooks family.
